Meopham fielded two teams at Linton Park CC's annual u11 six a side festival, the Mohawks and the Mohicans. Linton Park fielded two teams of their own, and Town Malling fielded a team of girls (u12). The format was each side playing all other 4 opponents in a 5 over contest, with the top two teams contesting a final, with teams 3 and 4 contesting a plate trophy.
Despite losing their first game to the Town Malling Swans, who fielded three girls from the Kent squad, the Mohawks comfortably won their remaining three games to reach the final. For the Mohicans it was a different story, losing all four games but putting up a valiant fight in each one. Charlie Gardner, Isaac Taylor and Brunel all playing some very good innings.
On to the final, the Swans batted first making 47 runs from their 5 overs, which looked competitive. However, the Mohicans cruised to victory in 3.4 overs as Ben Smith and James Baldwin found the boundary with ease. Every other member of the team played their part throughout the tournament; Austen Winn-Gordon, Annabel Russell behind the stumps, George Gummer, Toby James and Nye Heatley. Congratulations guys!
Final compliments go to all the teams that participated, and to Linton Park CC for hosting a great event.
